Here's a potential body blow to our reliance on oil that comes from an unlikely place: Two California entrepreneurs are developing a machine for home use that allows you to create ethanol from sugar for as little as a dollar a gallon. Beats the snot out of the $3.50 we're paying now, particularly considering that we're not seeing any signs that will ease up.
