GOP: Criminal Fundraising is OK, But Annie's List is "Corrupt"

One thing the Texas GOP never seem to run short of are hypocrites.

One of the many Texas State House races to watch this year is House District 52 in Williamson County (also home to the best brisket in the world at Louie Mueller's BBQ in Taylor). The Democratic candidate for HD52 is Diana Maldonado, a rock star of a candidate who has received the endorsement of and funding from the progressive Texas PAC Annie's List.

So what does the Williamson County Republican Party think about Annie's List and their $25,000 contribution to Diana Maldonado's campaign? In the words of Bill Fairbrother, Williamson County GOP Chair (via KVUE's Political Junkie blog):

"This toxic money that was laundered and paid to Maldonado is a dirty down payment on corrupt and immoral behavior," said Bill Fairbrother, Williamson County Republican Party Chairman. "Imagine the message this 'hush money' sends to our children. It says that if you make a mistake you do not have take responsibility for your actions."

"It is time for Maldonado to take responsibility and reject this contribution. If she fails to reject this contribution she is aiding and abetting this corrupt behavior."

I know. You can't make this stuff up. My question to Bill is this: If Diana Maldonado should reject this Annie's List contribution for the reasons you stated, when can we expect to read your statement calling on all Republican candidates in Texas who are benefiting from Karl Rove's fundraising to reject the money raised by a man who is held in contempt by Congress?
