Rep. Chisum Loves Him Some Sex Legislation

Rep. Warren Chisum is at it again. He seems obsessed with any and all legislation dealing with sex. He can't get enough of it. Rep. Chisum is well known for his infamous anti-sodomy bill that was eventually struck down by the Supreme Court in Lawrence v. Texas.

Most recently, however, Rep. Chisum is introducing HB311, that targets sex education in Texas schools. Rep. Chisum's bill would require schools to secure parents' permission before sex education can be taught. Current law gives parents the option of removing their children from sex education programs, but does not require schools to seek permission from parents. Apparently Rep. Chisum is not satisfied with Texas being 2nd only to Mississippi in recorded teenage birthrates, and is doing what he can so Texas can secure that coveted number 1 spot.

The first attempt Texas officials made at overtaking Mississippi in that stat was the abstinence-only initiative from a few years ago, which stufy after study has shown simply does not work. I can't wait to see how this one works out for us.
