GravelWatch

The always entertaining Mike Gravel and election phenom Obama Girl have teamed up in a new video. This is kind of like what would happen if MC Hammer got together Kanye West or something. Actually, I'm not sure what the analog would be for the music all the kids listen to. My first instinct was to go with Lionel Richie joining Q-Tip for a couple of tracks. I am apparently a few years behind.

More Clinton Loans

AP is reporting that Senator Hillary Clinton made over $6 million in loans to her campaign in the last 30 days or so. This doubles up and then some on her previous campaign loan of $5 million.

McCain Has a Very Bad Night

John McCain is the presumptive nominee and has been for long enough that the remaining Republican primaries don't matter. That doesn't mean that failing to garner 80 percent of the vote in those remaining primaries isn't really embarrassing, or that unreasonably strong showings by Huckabee, Romney and Paul don't imply serious problems for McCain with the Republican base.

The (Grand Old) Party's Over

MSNBC's First Read has a mashup of several signs and signifiers that McCain's hayride on Easy Street is about to come to an abrupt end.

In Re: Primaries

Primaries are totally happening today in Indiana and North Carolina, in case you had somehow forgotten. I started looking for exit polls at 8 AM and still, nothing.

McCain Loves a Certain Brand of Judges

Oh man, hasn't it been too long since you heard someone promise to appoint strict constructionist judges? If that's the case, McCain hooks you up.

So Many New Voters

The Associated Press reports that this election cycle will see some 3.5 million new voters headed to polling places. The long lasting Democratic primary has contributed a great deal to that number of new voters, as political relevancy in national politics has come to states rarely visited in the past.

Texas AG OK's Prosecution of Needle-Exchange Participants

Words fail me:

Those in possession of drug paraphernalia as part of a needle-exchange program can be prosecuted, the Texas Attorney General's Office said Monday, clearing the way for a case against three activists who passed out clean syringes.

"Participants in the program may, in the discretion of the prosecutor, be prosecuted under the Texas Controlled Substances Act," read the opinion signed by Attorney General Greg Abbott.

Exciting Rasmussen Numbers

Via BOR: my hate-hate relationship with polls is not a secret, but Rasmussen usually delivers a snapshot that reflects reality. With only this data for reference I can only be encouraged and skeptical, but the encouraging part is pretty good. Cornyn / Noreiga?
