Former CIA Director George Tenet: I’m a Patsy
By Josh Matlock
Fri, 04/27/2007 - 12:45pm
Tenet recalls in his new book that former Secretary of State Powell invited him over one Sunday evening for some lemonade, and proceeded to report his being witness to a lively debate on Air Force One where Vice President Cheney attempted to throw Tenet under the bus for the African uranium claim showing up in the 2003 State of the Union Address.
Texas Blue Mailbag #1
Fri, 04/27/2007 - 10:53am
Today we're introducing a new feature: The Texas Blue Mailbag! People have actually been writing us letters, and until now we were sometimes remiss in answering them in a timely fashion. The general email address that both George and I get (and successfully keep up with now) is info@thetexasblue.com, so keep those letters coming.
Perry, Legislators Throw Away $500 Million Trying to Privatize Social Security
By Peter Stern
Fri, 04/27/2007 - 10:05am
"The great minds of Texas," as the governor likes to call his special committee cronies, have tossed away more taxpayer dollars on an "innovative" plan that would privatize the Social Security Program. Too bad that, like many of their other plans, it was initiated by the poor judgment of special interests who salivated at the thought of a new resource for unlimited income.
Friday Roundup: Winners and Losers
Fri, 04/27/2007 - 8:59am
I think the clear winner in last's night debate was The American People. You could say that, or you could say that everyone was lucky that former Alaska senator Mike Gravel didn't punch anyone. Thu, 04/26/2007 - 5:01pm
OK, I think I'm ready to start liveblogging what may be one of the best televised debates in the last 25 years. In true In The Pink Texas fashion, I've set myself up with a big screen TV and a good beer or three. Won't be doing any beer reviews here, though — got to go to ITPT for that; they do that much better than I.

Bill Tracker: HB 3829 v. HB 104 - Residents
By Karl Lynch
Thu, 04/26/2007 - 1:19pm
Tuition at our state universities is different for in-state students and out-of-state students. In-state “residents” pay less to attend our colleges. This reality is repeated in most states in the United States.
Thursday Roundup: 'Vote' Is an Anagram for 'Veto'
Thu, 04/26/2007 - 8:48am
The House decided to see what happens when an incredibly embattled president tries to flex his muscle and spend some political capital yesterday, passing the Iraq funding bill 218-208. The bill includes provisions for troop withdrawal which could begin as early as July, depending on whether the Iraqi government meets certain benchmarks. Withdrawal would have to begin by October 1, and combat would be over by next March.
