Helen Thomas Embarasses Tony Snow

It must be Friday: the Grand Dame of the White House Press Corps just tired of Tony Snow's jibber-jabber, and let him have it.

The story begins with Tony Snow engaging in a little revisionist history and assuring the press corps that no, in fact, FBI Director Robert Mueller didn't actually contradict Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday. The problem is that he did, and no matter how hard Tony Snow smirks and shimmies, he can't really change that. He tries, though, and engages in some serious parsing. I mean, some serious parsing. Now, the dessert: The conversation continues, and Snow continues doing his dance, and Helen Thomas nails him to to the wall — she would like some answers, please.

I know things are tough all over, but this beats the pants off of a lot of the political observation I have seen from, say, 2003-2005.
