Holding a Drudge

Who would have thought that Hillary Clinton would work out a way to reach out to Matt Drudge?
During President Clinton's time in office, Matt Drudge represented one of the original pioneer efforts in news outside of the mainstream media, and he was also a primary thorn in the Clinton's side. The Drudge Report more or less broke the Lewinsky story along with many others in the late 90's and on through the early parts of the 21st century, through until today. Drudge isn't really a blogger, and he's been accused of bias on both sides of the ideological spectrum, but plenty of people in Washington acknowledge that Drudge swings a heavy bat when it comes to political coverage and often directs what the media reports on.
So, considering all of that, I guess it isn't really surprising that campaigns from both parties have worked to get Drudge to report on their activities. I just didn't expect the relationship between Clinton's campaign universe and Matt Drudge to be so... symbiotic.
As Senator Barack Obama prepared to give a major speech on Iraq one morning a few weeks ago, a flashing red-siren alert went up on the Drudge Report Web site. It read, “Queen of the Quarter: Hillary Crushes Obama in Surprise Fund-Raising Surge,” and, “$27 Million, Sources Tell Drudge Report.”
-snip-
At the same time, Democrats said they noticed an occasional Clinton-friendly tone from Mr. Drudge, whom New York magazine quoted as saying on his program: “I need Hillary Clinton. You don’t get it. I need to be part of her world. That’s my bank.”
There's nothing accidental on either side, I don't think. Strange bedfellows, sure, but it is there for your observation. Not to mention that the New York Times article is interesting and informative.
