Lady Bird Johnson Passes Away

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Lady Bird Johnson, former First Lady and wife of President Lyndon Johnson, passed away today at her Austin home of natural causes at the age of 94.

Their daughter Luci Baines Johnson, in an AP interview in 2001:

"People often ask me about walking in her shadow, following in the footsteps of somebody like Lady Bird Johnson," she said. "My mother made her own unique imprint on this land."

From TDP Chairman Boyd Richie:

“Today, Texas lost one of its most devoted public figures and dedicated champions. During her time in the White House, Lady Bird truly represented to the country the best of what Texas had to offer. She believed Texas to be a cherished treasure and worked tirelessly to ensure its vast landscape would be forever preserved. Because of her love and commitment, Texas is a better and more beautiful place. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Everyone at the Texas Blue is sad to hear of Mrs. Johnson's passing, and our thoughts are with her family and loved ones.
