Last Chance to Vote in TDP's ePrimary Poll
Fri, 09/07/2007 - 9:35am
Today is the last day of the Texas Democratic Party's ePrimary Poll. I already voted, and many of you likely have as well. But if you haven't, you're running out of time. The polls close tonight at 11:59 PM. If you'd like an update on results, you can see them here, and I think they are pretty interesting.
So far, Biden, Dodd, and Gravel aren't doing so well. Edwards is out in front by a prohibitive margin, and Clinton and Obama are in second and third, respectively. The two surprises for me are Kucinich and Richardson.
I know the poll isn't scientific and at best includes a lot of statistical noise. But Kucinich's strong showing is a bit of a surprise to me. Since the vast majority of participants in this poll are engaged Democrats who are internet-savvy, I knew he would do well, but he's creeping up on Obama. That's better than I thought.
(Update @ 11:12 AM: They would update the results just after I run something. Now Obama has pulled ahead of Clinton and Kucinich has fallen back. Latest results here.)
And Richardson's performance makes Kucinich's showing even more surprising in context. I thought for sure Richardson would have enough support to nip around the edges, and he's pretty engaged on the internet, so I thought some of that would reflect here. I was, apparently, wrong.
Well, at any rate, go vote. This statement from the TDP over at BOR does a good of explaining why:
The enormous participation in the TDP ePrimary Poll is evidence of a Democratic Party on the rise in the Lone Star State. While Texas Republicans had only third-string candidates and embarrassingly low turnout at their VIP-only Straw Poll last weekend, Democrats from every corner of the state are energized by our Party's strong field of presidential candidates and showing their excitement for 2008 in the ePrimary Poll.
There you go — plenty of reasons to keep it up.
