The convention hasn't been on for 24 hours yet and I have already been able to see much of the Democratic candidates for state rep, state senate, and for Congress. I've been duly impressed.
Glenn Melançon, Larry Joe Doherty, Joe Jaworski, Wendy Davis, and Eric Roberson are engaging, exciting speakers and last night at the blogger's caucus they proved it by grabbing the attention of a loud crowd at Cedar Door and getting everyone pumped up.
This morning at the Blue Dog Caucus was no different. In a much more muted setting (read: no booze and relatively early in the morning in a convention meeting room that is so regular you might say that it is an arch meeting room) Jaworski was similarly engaging, and the other candidates were too. The fact that they can play both kinds of rooms equally well should be encouraging to Democrats looking to unseat some incumbents.
