According to a number of witnesses, Senators McCain and Cornyn apparently got into a bit of a verbal slap fight over who knew more about the new immigration bill Congress is presently working on.
It all started when Cornyn raised concerns over the immigration bill. McCain reacted, claiming Cornyn’s objections were petty and merely an attempt to kill the bill. Cornyn responded by playing the presidential campaign card, telling McCain he had been too busy campaigning and is parachuting in at the last day of negotiations with little knowledge about what was going on. McCain shot back, “[expletive] you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room.”
Based on the accounts, it appears indisputable that Cornyn got “served” by McCain and continues to flail about on the immigration issue.
