More On The Fake FEMA News Conference

CNN has it that Pat Philbin, the person responsible for putting together the fake FEMA news conference we discussed on Friday, has run into some trouble as a result.

Apparently, Philbin was set to take on a new job as PR point man for Mike McConnell, the National Intelligence Director. Now that isn't going to happen:

But Monday, the director of national intelligence office issued this statement: "We do not normally comment on personnel matters. However, we can confirm that Mr. Philbin is not, nor is he scheduled to be, the director of public affairs for the office of the director of national intelligence."

David Paulison, director of FEMA, has said that he is concerned that FEMA's credibility has been damaged by this event, and how could it not have been? The story is that the FEMA people only started asking questions when no reporters showed up, but they'd only been given fifteen minutes' notice. To say that wasn't intentional time press is, to me, a hard sell.
