Republicans Complain About Lack of Southerners In Obama's Cabinet

The GOP is complaining that President-Elect Barack Obama has not appointed any Southerners to his cabinet. This is despite the fact that:

• Ron Kirk is from Texas
• Carol Browner is from Florida
• Lisa Jackson is from Louisiana
• Hillary Clinton spent the bulk of her adult life in Arkansas

Either Republicans are simply incapable of looking at a map, or they subscribe to the false view of the South as being the land of white, Protestant males of a certain political bent only. I really can't see any other explanation.
