White House Emails? What?

This might be the big one. From TPM Muckraker:

Of the 88 officials using RNC accounts, the RNC has deleted records for 51 users. Still, the committee found heavy use of the account by some high-ranking officials. For instance, the RNC tracked down 140,000 messages sent to or received by Karl Rove. Half of those were addressed to or from an official ".gov" address. The White House Director of Political Affairs Sara Taylor sent 66,018 emails and Deputy Director of Political Affairs Scott Jennings sent 35,198 emails, according to RNC records.

I was not the first one to predict that Henry Waxman was going to let slip the dogs of war, but this case may be the one that does the job. While it has progressed in small steps, the scope of this case may (and almost certainly does) reach into many, many executive agencies and include lots of White House staff, like the aforementioned Rove.

Here's the hilarious bit: Republicans, while being much more vocal in their criticism of Bush since they lost Congress, have more or less stood with Bush on the war and other issues, even if they've been doing it in an underhanded way. But the support among many of his staunchest allies may evaporate if he doesn't pardon Scooter Libby, or at least commute his sentence. A rich tapestry, indeed.
