Evidence of Lifestyle Changes
Thu, 06/19/2008 - 7:10am
You've probably had to make changes in the way you go about your life because of high gas prices, and the Department of Transportation has found that you aren't alone: American drivers reduced their time on the highway in April by some 1.4 billion miles.
The Matching Funds Albatross
Wed, 06/18/2008 - 8:56am
The DNC has no intention of letting McCain slide for his on-again, off-again approach to campaign finance and federal matching funds: they are actively pressuring the FEC for an investigation.
Israel / Hamas Truce Forthcoming
Tue, 06/17/2008 - 5:52pm
It isn't Texas politics or American politics, but this sort of thing has a huge effect on American foreign policy, so you should know about it: Israel and Hamas are reportedly very close to declaring a truce.
Where Did Those Stickers Come From?
Mon, 06/16/2008 - 2:00pm
I didn't bring those, did you?
Professionally made "KBH for Gov" lapel stickers mysteriously appeared at a coffee reception Friday morning hosted by U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Her staff denied any knowledge. But at the Texas Republican convention, this bit of speculation is undoubtedly the largest elephant in the room.
Poor Planning, Cont.

Wow. So McCain's campaign had already said they weren't going to return the money Clayton Williams had bundled for them even though they were canceling the event. However, the Politico is reporting that they haven't actually canceled the event, ha ha, just kidding:
The McCain campaign has refused to return the money Williams raised—and despite initially telling press they were cancelling the event, the campaign has rescheduled it for later this summer.
This is Campaign 101 type stuff. I'm amazed. Is the B Team running the boat over there?
An Example of Poor Planning
Mon, 06/16/2008 - 9:00am
I don't know why anyone would schedule a fundraiser with former Republican gubernatorial candidate and all around political kryptonite Clayton Williams, but McCain did. The campaign has since canceled it after finding out the defining thing about Clayton Williams.
Putting Fears To Rest

Attention: Lou Dobbs is not running for Governor of New Jersey. I sort of thought he might, and while the race would have been entertaining it probably wouldn't have been any good for any body.
VeepStakes: Show Me State Edition

CNN's Political Ticker thinks Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill might either be courting the Obama VP slot or, perhaps, is being courted for it. I think everyone will be wrong about the VP projections and that it will be someone totally unexpected. Like, why not Bernie Sanders? Or, dare I say it, Teddy Roosevelt? That would be pretty unexpected, huh?
A Dream, Softly Out
Thu, 06/12/2008 - 4:38pm
Ron Paul will formally terminate his presidential campaign tonight. I think the next step can only be a motivational speaking tour. Or maybe cutting an album. Either way, his supporters will have to do something else between now and November.
A Terrifying Proposition
Wed, 06/11/2008 - 1:04pm
The National Journal ponders: what if all of the major news outlets disagreed on something? Prepare yourself, because it is happening. Seems that not everyone can get on the same page about what states will be presidential election battlegrounds. After the accuracy ratings from the Democratic primary predictions, I don't know why these guys are still in the forecasting business.
