Governor Perry appointed Don McLeroy, a longtime board member and a dentist from Bryan, to chair the State Board of Education. He is a staunch conservative who has been on the predictable side of every hot issue the board has faced since he began serving on it in 1998.
Friday Roundup: A Mean Letter From The Pentagon
Fri, 07/20/2007 - 7:10am
I'm not sure what kind of message they think they're sending, but all this says to me is that Republicans are worried about their chances to avoid a pounding in 2008, and have reverted to the playbook from 2004: the Department of Defense actually took the time to make the ridiculous claim that Hillary Clinton's questions about troop withdrawal from Iraq are somehow emboldening the enemy.

Thu, 07/19/2007 - 8:00am

Fool Us Once…
By Josh Matlock
Wed, 07/18/2007 - 4:12pm
The Bush Administration and the Republican noise machine are doing their dead level best to fool the public twice. Most galling in this effort is their attempt to use the very same arguments as before to push their war agenda. They are claiming that we cannot leave Iraq because al-Qaeda has established a stronghold making Iraq the central front of the war on terror. Yet this time the American public is not buying it. Cream-skimming and cherry-picking of intelligence for the sake of presidential prerogative is no longer allowed.
