New Texas Poll Data
Thu, 02/21/2008 - 3:36pm
In light of tonight's debate, it is nice to have some new poll data. IVR and KXAN don't necessarily tell us anything new with their most recent results — the race is still a statistical tie, and might even be getting closer, if you can believe — but it does reinforce what we already knew. Both candidates are going to have to stomp the earth to break out here in the Lone Star State, and tonight provides them with an opportunity to do just that.

John McCain's No Good, Very Bad Day
Wed, 02/20/2008 - 10:18pm
When you are trying very hard to be a Moral Majority / Conservative candidate and sell yourself to people that are highly suspicious that you are not, in fact, a Moral Majority / Conservative candidate, it would be bad for even the stirrings of a sex scandal to crop up. But when you are the anti-Washington Maverick / Moral Majority / Conservative candidate, and said scandal is allegedly with a lobbyist? That is not good in a very special kind of way. The New York Times has the story, which every other outlet on the face of the earth is rightly calling a "bombshell."
Chelsea Clinton at UNT - Liveblog
Wed, 02/20/2008 - 3:51pm
4:58 Last question: the questioner has a little brother with spina bifida; what would Clinton do for him? Chelsea points out that fully funding Medicare would allow his brother to get the care he needs, and getting everyone universal health care would make those costs more affordable. Chelsea hopes everyone votes for her mom, and is adamant: "Early vote! Early vote!" before leaving to applause.
From Inside Reunion - The Obama Rally Liveblog
Wed, 02/20/2008 - 1:39pm
1:45 PM - George: Well, it's a little over ten minutes after the close of the event, and of course, there are still folks around the convention center — much to the consternation of the event staff, I'm sure. I was working the floor, so Josh probably got a better vibe of the press impression than I, but it seemed to me many in the press was pretty much in shock at Barack getting applause for blowing his nose. It does seem like something out of a joke — like something that one would say intending hyperbole, and not something that one would actually see happen. The candidate could basically do no wrong with this crowd. Word is that he'll be making another appearance next week in Fort Worth, which we'll also be covering. And of course, I'll also be liveblogging the Clinton event today at 3:30 at the University of North Texas. Thanks for following along with us, everybody.

Man, there are a lot of people here. The joke was that people would be lined up on Tuesday for Obama's rally here today, and that by the time the doors opened, the line would be around the block. Turns out, that was no joke. More soon.
