Friday Bonus Roundup: John Edwards' Locker + Democratic Debate Liveblog #2
Fri, 06/01/2007 - 1:15pm
I have been remiss — this story came out a few days ago and I have neglected to write about it, but here it is: John Edwards has a stake in pirate booty found on a sunken ship.
Not literally in the pirate booty itself, that is, but in the company that salvaged it. Or actually, not even directly in the company that salvaged it, but in the fund that invests in the company that salvaged it. The sunken ship from the 1600's is stacked with silver and gold, apparently, so make with the pirate jokes.
Also, George would like me to point out that on Sunday night, he will be liveblogging the second Democratic debate, which will be on CNN at 6pm Central. I may show up to heckle him.
This morning, as I was finishing the roundup, Dan Bartlett resigned from the White House. The ship just keeps getting lighter. (I can't wait for the tell-all expose that I'm sure he's half done writing. Or are you not supposed to resign until after first manuscript? —GN ed.)
In some long-awaited Scooter Libby news, his lawyers would really like it if he didn't actually have to go to jail. The prosecution is pushing for 30 months.
And finally, you remember that gigantic embassy we're building in Iraq? Somehow the plans got online. That is not extremely secure.

Oh the Headlines...

I can see the Drudge headline now: "EDWARDS CAMPAIGN FINANCED BY HIGH SEAS RAPE AND PLUNDER!!!"

If Matt Drudge writes more than one headline per week that isn't full of lies, I'll eat a hat.

I don't think there are any hats in any danger on that count!
