Remarks on the Environment

It's the weekend, so I will keep the commentary to a minimum and direct you to two items of interest. On the Environment (Campaigns): Iowa is pretty important, says Politico. Er, rather, still pretty important. On the Environment (Global Warming): The Northwest Passage exists! Because we a melted a hole big enough in the arctic ice for shipping!
Okay, maybe just a little commentary: why isn't there more of a big deal being made about this? Enough arctic ice melts for the Northwest Passage to open and the news says "This is bad, but also, shipping routes!"? Seriously? I think this is scarier than the thing about the bees, even though I guess this should have seemed inevitable by comparison.
Anyways, campaigns and ice. Hope you're having a nice weekend.

I can already see the spin: Global warming makes international trade easier!
