Russian To Judgment

Some days I would rather not live in interesting times: I thought the news of a Russian Tu-95 bomber buzzing the USS Nimitz was strange enough, yet another step in a long series of aggressive displays against the West by Putin's Russia. So imagine my political-science surprise when Putin passive-aggressively threatened to nuke the Ukraine if they join NATO and play nice on the US missile shield. But hey, why would we ever worry about foreign policy or international affairs, right? Right?

A low level "look see" is pretty surprising for a Tu-95. That's a four engine turboprop plane (propellers, not jets). Especially a low level "look see" right over an American carrier!
I guess the rules of engagement have changed somewhat since the 1980s.
It certainly sounds like Putin is giving the Russian military latitude to play one of their favorite games during the Cold War: Whose Border Is It Anyway?

Ah, how I pine for the days when we actually had the positive international reputation and foreign policy chops to avoid situations like this one...
