TexVAC Rayburn Johnson Dinner: Begala, Clark to Speak in Dallas

We learned today that the 2nd TexVAC Rayburn Johnson Dinner on April 28, 2007 will feature former Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe, former Texas Lt. Governor Bill Hobby, former Congressman Martin Frost, and Waco businessman and philanthropist Bernard Rapoport. The keynote speaker will be Paul Begala, whom you all know from the campaigns of a man named Bill. General Wes Clark will be attending and speaking on behalf of Dallas businessman Jess Hay, the dinner's honoree.

Last year's dinner, which James Carville headlined, was well-attended and a good time. It also provided a good chunk of the financial gas in the tank for the Dallas County Democratic takeover in 2006. I anticipate this year's dinner may be even bigger. Ed Ishmael, one of TexVAC's founders, had this to say:

"Last November, Dallas voters made it clear that they wanted to see new directions in policy-making at the national, state, and local levels. Texas Values in Action supports North Texas Democratic candidates who have progressive ideas about issues such as education, clean air and water, and economic development. We want to support leaders who believe in hope and opportunity for all."

That sounds good to me, and as they are from our neighborhood, we're excited about the dinner and the progress in Dallas. For information on the dinner, call TexVAC at 214-350-7875 or visit their site at TexVAC.org. Tickets are $150.

Woo Hoo!

I'm there!

No kidding.

The line-up is pretty rockin'.
