A Bad Day in the Car Business

So General Motors lost $3.3 billion in the the first three months of 2008. Chrysler lost something like $6.5 billion.

That's a lot of money to lose in three months. The problem with how the media talks about the economic issues in America is that they rarely draw any sort of narrative about how industries are tied to one another or will be affected by losses and gains across the spectrum. Here's an example of what happens when gas prices are huge, the dollar is weak, wages are stagnant, and your car company is diversified into mortgages on the side.
