Castro Resigns

As I'm sure you've heard by now, Fidel Castro has resigned as president of Cuba, saying he would not seek or accept another term.

While he has not resigned as the leader of Cuba's Communist Party, this still signals the beginning of a monumental shift for Cuba and a period of rapid political change the world over. Castro's brother Raul, who has been managing the state's day-to-day operations since summer 2006, is a likely replacement when the national assembly elects new state leadership in a few days' time.
