Charlie Black Calls Obama a Patriot

Charlie Black, McCain's number one adviser, is of late best known as the guy who said that another terrorist attack woould be a booster for McCain.

He's been given a hard time for saying so. But maybe he's not such a bad guy after all. His candid acknowledgment of fear-based politics aside, Black actually had nice things to say about the Democratic nominee today.

“We concede that he’s a patriot and person of good character," Black told Politico in a story about Obama's election strategy.

That's it. They conceded. The McCain campaign has given up the fight over whether or not Barack Obama, former constitutional law professor, U.S. Senator, and candidate for the highest office in the United States government, loves his country. The matter is closed, and the Democrats win.

Sarcasm aside, its nice to see at least some nod toward a contest based on the issues rather than a succession of character assassinations, but Mr. Black's choice of words does lend an overtone of insincerity to the compliment.
