Contempt Charges for Karl Rove?

Karl Rove ignored a congressional subpoena last Thursday, refusing to appear before a judiciary subcommittee. As lawmakers waited to question him over the politically motivated firings of US Attorneys. Karl Rove, conveniently enough, was not even in the United States.

Rove's lawyers evoked the Bush Administration's fancifully broad interpretation of executive privilege as an excuse for his actions, much like Harriet Miers, Joshua Bolten, Sarah Taylor, and others in the Bush administration who were found to be in contempt of congress.

Members of the subcommittee have suggested contempt charges, and possibly even jail time for Rove.
