Early Primary Measure In Senate Soon

A couple of sources report (and now Statesman confirms) that the Senate State Affairs committee will review the bill this week that would move Texas' primary up to February 5.

Officials from both parties are in favor of it. Senator Royce West has rounded up a bipartisan array of support, and even the state GOP acknowledges the votes are there.

I don't think this is much more than an indicator of what's coming — everyone is excited about expanding Texas' role in national politics, and it seems like if this were going to die it would have died already. We'll see by Thursday, and we'll keep you updated.
