Edwards Endorses Obama

Yes, you read that title correctly. The most coveted superdelegate endorsement in the nation — namely because it comes with some pledged delegates attached — is now off the table.

John Edwards' endorsement was confirmed a bit over half an hour ago by NBC news, and MSNBC was quick to run with it. They do note, however, that the 18 pledged delegates that Edwards had from primaries and caucuses do not automatically go to Obama. They have had plenty of time to pick a choice on their own by now, and MSNBC's First Read calls them "really loyal" to their convictions, even if their convictions do not agree with who their initial candidate is telling them to vote for. It'll be interesting to see how those delegates react to the news.
