Former President Clinton comes to Texas to show us who's really blue

I was fortunate enough to attend former President Clinton's speech last night, and needless to say, he's the most dynamic, inspiring, and powerful man with which I'll have the pleasure of being in the same room.

Okay, enough of my "googly eyes" — let's get down to business.

Clinton had plenty to speak about in regards to the environment. Like most of us, he sees the effects that the United States' greenhouse gases have had on the rest of the world, not just our own environment. Clinton has started a new program — The Clinton Foundation — in which one of the tasks he has taken on is reducing global warming.

Clinton spoke on the Kyoto treaty and other countries' progress, which has completely blown us out of the water. He made an interesting comparison of the United States and Great Britain, which has a similar economic make-up. Great Britain signed the Kyoto treaty in 1997, and has since reduced their greenhouse gases to the standard of the treaty, and have created their own stricter standards.

The speech was a wake-up call for most of the audience about the sustainability of the environment; contrary to what we've heard from the current administration, there are economically profitable ways to improve our current global climate situation.

Denmark has found ways to utilize wind-powered energy sources, not only to sustain their global climate, but to improve their economy by creating increased revenue through their technology.

Former President Clinton was truly inspiring in a time when the environment appears to be the last priority for the current president; it is warming to know someone as powerful and influential as Clinton is fighting behind the scenes to make a difference.
