Garcia Nominated for Assistant Secretary of Navy

Hat tip to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, by way of Vince at Capitol Annex (who has been covering this story for a while now). President Obama announced today his intention to nominate former HD 32 state representative Juan Garcia for Assistant Secretary of the Navy.

As Vince notes, Garcia's nomination doesn't come out of nowhere -- they met at Harvard Law, and Garcia headed up Obama's Texas campaign in '08. He has served in the Navy since 1992, and is currently commander of Naval Reserve Training Squadron 28 at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station.
