Houston Mayor Bill White Considers 2010 Options

Houston Mayor Bill White is looking at his options for 2010, according to a report today.

As Mayor of Houston, he is term limited and will be without office in 2009. He previously served in the Clinton administration in the Department of Energy, and had been considered a candidate for governor in 2006. White chose to stay out of the race that year, leaving room for fellow Houstonian Chris Bell to run. He was also considered a likely challenger against Perry in 2010. With Hutchison running, though, the race for Austin might be more difficult to win than a seat in Washington.

Of course, Hutchison may not resign from the Senate to run for Governor, which would make all of this speculation moot, and force White to run against her if he wanted any future office.
