I'll Gladly Pay You Tuesday For Some Scrutiny Today

The Washington Post's Dan Balz echoes Tim Russert's sentiment that it will only be a matter of time before the media start scrutinizing Senator John McCain the way that they've scrutinized Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama:

It’s been said repeatedly that McCain may be the only Republican who could win the White House, given the public’s disaffection with the president and the GOP. Both he and the Democratic nominee will get renewed scrutiny once the general election really begins.

Note the double-down on the Democratic nominee. I will forecast that in October we'll still be treated to questions about what Senator Obama's relationship to Reverend Wright really-really-really-REALLY means while they'll toss a softball or two Senator McCain's way about his relationship to John Hagee or why Cindy McCain won't release her tax returns.
