Lampson Looks to the Moon

In an effort to keep his congressional seat, Rep. Lampson focuses his attention on NASA and the Johnson Space Center, located within his 22nd district. The support of Space Center employees is critical in the tight race for re-election.

Lampson is currently in a Republican hotbed of voters, with Bush pulling 64 percent of the vote in 2004. He will be running against Republican (and former Senate aide) Pete Olsen.

Lampson has championed NASA’s cause through the Space Exploration Act, legislation written in 2002 to further the agency's long-term goals. Lampson sees the future of NASA as a key aspect in the nation’s energy strategy.
