National Polls All Over The Place

How I feel about national polls is well-established — they largely indicate name ID, especially in primary elections, and have only a fractious relevance that dissipates when the rubber meets the road in a real state.

With that being said, I don't mind saying that the national polls do seem to show something happening on the Democratic side, although precisely what it is or what it means is a tough nut, as so many polls show so many different things.

Obviously things will shift as more people begin to pay more attention and Super Tuesday (and the road beyond) becomes the national focus. But I don't necessarily think that national polls function now as any sort of predictive engine, other than to say that things are close. What do you think?
