Perino's Short-Term Memory

Once again, the Bush Administration provides a reliable source of amusement. White House Press Secretary Dana Perino told "Fox and Friends" yesterday that she can't remember the press asking her any major questions about Iraq since December, though she admitted that recollection “might not be precise”.

In this very recent White House press briefing, someone asks Mrs. Perino several pointed questions about Iraq. It came up again on Wednesday, but I suppose that was too long ago.

That’s not the only gap in her memory. On December 8, Perino appeared NPR's quiz show "Wait...Don't Tell Me." On the show, she cheerily admitted her ignorance of the Cuban Missile Crisis. She did, however, accurately identify it as having to do with both "missiles" and "Cuba."

In the Fox interview, she joins host Brian Kilmeade in speculation that this (largely imaginary) reticence might be the result of real progress in Iraq. With things going so well in Iraq, apparently the liberal media just isn’t interested anymore.
