Perry Hearts The Nuge

Hot off the digital presses from the Dallas Morning News' website:

AUSTIN - Hours after Gov. Rick Perry kicked off his second full term in office, rocker Ted Nugent helped him celebrate at a black-tie gala, but not all attendees were pleased by the performance.

Using machine guns as props, Nugent appeared onstage as the final act of the inaugural ball wearing a cut-off T-shirt emblazoned with the Confederate flag and shouting offensive remarks about non-English speakers, according to people who were in attendance.

-snip-

The black-tie ball was just hours after Perry was sworn into office and spoke of bipartisanship, compassion for the poor and racial and class unity.

What can be more emblematic of Texas Republicans than this Nugent appearance? It's got everything they love: Machine guns (because the legal ones just aren't enough, you know!), a cut off t-shirt, the Stars and Bars and verbal bigotry.

To the 39% of Texans who voted for Perry (and to a lesser extent, you that voted for Strayhorn and Friedman), that's your Governor, the man who turns the Lone Star State's inaugural ball into a Kappa Alpha mixer. Nice choice. I hope you're all proud.
