Rasmussen: Smith Below 50%, Democrats Within 3% And 7%

That was a difficult title to write, y'all! Rasmussen continues to take polling snapshots of Senate races around the country with a look Northwest to Oregon. With a margin of error of 4%, Rasmussen shows incumbent Republican Senator Gordon Smith leading Democrat Jeff Merkley by 3%, 45%-42%. The same poll shows the matchup between Senator Smith and Democrat Steve Novick to be 47%-41%.

This is the third straight month that Rasmussen has polled Oregon for this Senate campaign and it's the third straight month that Senator Smith has polled below 50% against his Democratic rivals. Both Senators Clinton and Obama poll ahead of Senator McCain in Oregon. The Oregon primary is May 20th.
