Republicans Experiencing Policy Paralysis on Iraq

Republican presidential candidates and leaders are experiencing policy paralysis on the Iraq war.

They claim Plan B is to make Plan A work. They say Plan A must work since it’s the only option other than admitting failure and retreating. Yet what exactly is Plan A? What is it that we hope to achieve in the next month, six months, and year? I’m certain at this point no one really knows.

Nevertheless, Republicans continue clinging to a course with no direction because any viable alternative inevitably leads out of Iraq, resulting in their disclosing some level of failure. Thus, in an effort to delay the inevitable, they have fallen into a policy paralysis. The paralysis is so severe that the Democratic Congress may be forced to pull the plug.
