Richardson Drops Out of Presidential Race

The AP is reporting that Bill Richardson will announce tomorrow that he has dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination for president.

Richardson based his campaign on his solid foreign policy credentials and his executive experience as governor of New Mexico, and had some buzz behind him early on due to some remarkably clever advertising depicting his "job application" for president. But the campaign could not capitalize on that early success, and he placed fourth in the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary.

As Richardson was widely conceived to be one of the most qualified candidates in the field and was campaigning largely on his experience, his departure from the field is likely to make for a slight but notable boost to Clinton's numbers, as the other candidate with the experience platform.
