Senate Majority Leader Hints at End to the Race Before August

Suspense is building over the race to take on McCain, but unlike most Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid doesn't seem too concerned. "Things are being done" within the Democratic party to end the drawn-out primary contest, according to Reid.

Reid told the Las Vegas Journal-Review that he spoke with DNC Chair Howard Dean about resolving the race before the August convention. He seemed as confident of a solution as he was tight-lipped about the specifics. This leaves the rest of us to guess at what Reid's passive-voice proclamation entails.

Some have interpreted this as a bad sign for Clinton, arguing that a pre-convention solution would end Clinton's hopes of winning the superdelegates between the last primary and the convention.

Whichever way this plays out, it seems to me a relief that the candidates are now less likely to be deadlocked until Denver.
