Texas Republican Offers To Do Nothing for Free

Republican Ed Hamilton is running for Kerr County Treasurer with only one objective: To get rid of the position. He promises that if he’s elected, he will not do the job, and will not accept the pay.

“Why?” you may ask. Ed’s answer is simple: Because you don’t need a fancy accountant to handle the work of the county treasurer. To be more efficient, he suggests the workload should be transferred to the County Auditor.

Which then begs the question, who will audit the County Auditor?

If elected, Mr. Hamilton also promises to petition the state for an amendment that would give counties the option to eliminate the position of the treasurer, currently a constitutionally mandated position.
