Tom Craddick Had A Great Night

Showing that he's still got an iron fist and the resources to throw some serious political punches, Speaker Tom Craddick had a great night on both sides of the isle. While he lost Democratic Representative Kevin Bailey in District 140 to primary challenger Armando Walle, his caucus gained another Republican seat in El Paso. Incumbent Pat Haggerty lost to challenger Dee Margo, a Republican with deep pockets who challenged Democratic State Senator Elliot Shapleigh in 2006. Although the Haggerty family is a political dynasty in El Paso, running against Tom Craddick in a Republican primary simply isn't a good strategy anywhere in Texas.
