Where's the Switchgrass?

In the President's State of the Union address this evening, he will be addressing issues on which he can find common ground with the Democrat-led Congress. It is safe to say his goals will be modest, with his approval rating now around 30% and having only kept a third of the promises from his last State of the Union, says ABC news. The question is, this time around, how will the president fare with an opposing Congress, when he could only achieve a third of his goals last time with a Republican majority?

The President will be addressing the following issues this evening:
- Health care
- Education
- War

and of course, lastly,
- Energy

President Bush will, more than likely, be groveling for support of his new plan for Iraq this evening. I picture him making up all kinds of words to confuse and stun people into agreeing with his plan for adding more money and more troops to an already unstable failure of a plan in Iraq. With millions of Americans disagreeing with his plans, he will be hard-pressed to find the kind of support which he's seeking.

Speaking of confusing people, we are all still waiting for Bush's master plan to utilize "switchgrass" as he proposed in his last State of the Union address to save us from global warming. Bush is calling for a 20% reduction in oil consumption, while also asking for increased storage of 1.5 billion barrels of gasoline. It screams of how serious he really is to finding sustainable alternative fuel sources for America... for now. The president is undershooting the American people's willingness to sustain the Earth and the serious nature of, well... nature.
