Seeing the Light on Ethics Rules for Congress

It’s about time. Late last year, a U.S. House task force recommended the creation of an “Office of Congressional Ethics.” It still hasn’t been voted on but if accepted by the whole House, it would be a giant step in the right direction.

In Maine, Obama Picks Up Fourth Weekend Win

The Maine caucus went to Barack Obama, making him four-for-four in Democratic contests over the weekend. The weather was bad but turnout was good, as has been the case in the whole election season. Next big contests happen in Tuesday's Potomac Primary, as D.C., Maryland, and Virginia head to the polls. Virginia is the big deal, so keep an eye out.
One Surprise, One Near Certainty

I think most everyone thought McCain would take Washington, and he did. The media is really taking him to task for losing Kansas and Louisiana, but I think we all thought that would happen as well, so the newsbeatings are a little weird. The surprise in the news this weekend comes from Ron Paul, who not only says that he's probably not going to get the nomination, but that he also won't run as a third party candidate.

Obama has swept today's state primaries, beating out Clinton in Louisiana, Nebraska, and Washington. Huckabee's not quite as likely to get a sweep, as he's a bit behind in Washington, but he's already been declared the victor in Kansas and Louisiana.
