Dick Cheney wants you to know that he is actually part of the executive branch. Again. Or has been all this time. Politico says that Cheney's office is doing away with the argument, and they link it specifically(!) to Rahm Emanuel's moves to deny them executive branch funding.

Austinites came together at a fundraiser held to defray David Rivas Morales’s funeral expenses. Morales was beaten to death in an East Austin neighborhood holding a Juneteenth celebration while checking on Michael Hosea Jr. after he was hit by the car Morales was riding in.

Let's assume for a second that we belong to a multi-trillion-dollar corporation, and we don't like a specific candidate. Before Monday's decision by the Supreme Court, we wouldn't have been able to run fake issue ads against that candidate within 60 days of an election. But now we can!

When he ran in 2000, then-Governor George W. Bush aggressively positioned himself as an ally of several religious right groups. It wasn’t a new strategy in the Republican party’s playbook. Taking the same tack throughout the 1980 presidential primary, Reagan received the endorsement of Jerry Falwell, effectively edging out W's dad — who was then attempting to run as a social moderate!
What was new was the zeal with which faith-based initiatives were being promoted as an important component to effective public service and policy.
