By Joseph Vogas

How about this for a blunt start to your day: former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is now openly campaigning for the number two spot on McCain's presidential ticket.
Vito Fossella Will Not Seek Re-Election
Mon, 05/19/2008 - 11:47pm
Via Talking Points Memo, Republican Representative Vito Fossella is expected to announce Tuesday that he will not seek re-election. My only peeve with this story is that it has a subtitle stating:
Sources: NY Rep. Fossella won't seek re-election after scandal over affair, child, DWI
This is kind of like saying the Bush administration had a scandal over prewar intelligence, Hurrican Katrina, the treatment of veterans and taking a pair of scissors to the Fourth Amendment.
McCain's Lobbyist(s) Problem, Cont.
Mon, 05/19/2008 - 4:29pm
McCain has had a hard enough time with all the stories about him and lobbyists being thick as thieves. But people keep quitting his campaign over extreme lobbying campaign gaffes, like this guy who fell victim to the fact that A) he runs a lobbying firm, and B) his lobbying firm is going to bat for Airbus, Saudi Arabia, and other extra-national interests. And here I thought forced resignations were supposed to taper off after you had the nomination.
"Sloppy, Error-Plagued and Incomparably Hackish Columns"
Mon, 05/19/2008 - 3:30pm
Jon Stewart once asked, wistfully, "Oh Bill Kristol, are you ever right?" As Kristol continues to write columns, the odds are starting to stack up against it. ("It" being "Bill Kristol ever being right.")
Who Ya Gonna Call?
Mon, 05/19/2008 - 2:59pm
Speaker Tom Craddick has been running some defensive noise as of late with his "ghost worker" business, and Fort Worth State Representative Lon Burnam is calling him on it.
Watching Michelle Malkin Complain Is Funny
Mon, 05/19/2008 - 2:30pm
Via Think Progress: If you aren't familiar with Michelle Malkin, you could say that she fancies herself as a New Media hybrid of Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh, lacking the clout and / or popularity of both. Witness the prime blogger outrage when she discovers that she has not been invited to take part in John McCain's weekly New Media conference calls.
A Spectre Haunting Austin
Mon, 05/19/2008 - 1:08pm
The argument that the GOP regularly makes when pushing any new Voter ID legislation largely concerns voter fraud. The commentary is almost always a painful picture of people taking advantage of lax ID requirements to vote over and over again, or of nefarious campaigns fixing elections and subverting the will of the people.
Huckabee Breaks for Veepstakes Daylight
Mon, 05/19/2008 - 12:36pm
In these late days, the question of who John McCain will pick to run with is... well, I'm interested in it, but it doesn't seem like anyone else is these days. Except for Mike Huckabee, who is now openly campaigning for the spot. I take that to mean that McCain told him no or nothing, and now Huckabee is trying to throw it out there as an option for the red meat conservative base. Very clever, Mister Mike.

Senator Edward Kennedy was rushed to the hospital early this morning after suffering what appears to have been a seizure.
