Al-Qaeda, or Extremists, or Whatever

In the midst of a big Pay Attention To McCain Tour through the Middle East, John McCain asserted that Iran is training al-Qaeda and then sending them to Iraq. Suddenly, Joe Lieberman came to the rescue!

After Lieberman stepped forward to whisper in the candidate's ear, McCain said: "I'm sorry; the Iranians are training the extremists, not al-Qaida. Not al-Qaida. I'm sorry."

A highfive festival between Iran and al-Qaeda is highly unlikely because — and I hear those of you that pay any attention whatsoever to foreign policy or the Middle East blurting out the answer — because al-Qaeda is a Sunni group and Iran is, as the article reminds us, predominantly Shi'a. If trying to become president, one may want to know the difference, or that the two sects may have some differences in opinion.

They all look alike anyway.

Those brown people.
