Chippendales Dancers, Public Enemy #1

In Lubbock, Texas, the Lubbock Police Department is declaring war on exotic dancing. In this city of 200,000 people, there are no liquor stores, no beer in convenience stores or grocery stores, and now: no dancers frolicking around in their underwear.

Friday evening at Jake's Sports Cafe, the Chippendales show went limp after Lubbock police began slapping the cuffs on young male dancers. Eight dancers, their production manager, and the restaurant manager were all taken to the Lubbock county jail for participating in a "simulated sex act".

Six police officers watched the performance looking for anything that caused "arousal or gratified the sexual desires of a person." Apparently, some arousal and gratification began taking place somewhere resulting in the police prematurely ending the performances. Jake's manager claims he attempted to determine precisely what was not allowed but never received any clear answers from the city council or police department.

Women attendees were clearly angered by how the police and city council handled the situation. As the Chippendales employees were being taken away in handcuffs, hundreds of women started chanting, "Bring them back, bring them back," and "the City Council sucks, the City Council sucks." For now, further Chippendales performances in Lubbock are uncertain. What is certain is that this incident is sure to create future performance anxiety for all parties involved.

You know, the city of

You know, the city of Lubbock is known for a few things and one of them is unnecessary harshness. Of course, enterprising business owners always have a way to combat their practices. There is a nice little area on the edge of town known as "The Strip." As a frequent visitor of Lubbock, I just happen to know where this strip is...if you get my drift. Regardless, the strip was formerly outside city limits so they could sell alcoholic beverages. On the weekends droves of college kids rushed to the edge of town like the gold rush of 49 to collect on their sinful bounty. I feel that if the government of Lubbock continues to act the way they do, we will eventually a see a new kind of strip...this one will be the real deal.
