College Republicans Show Their True Colors

Watching this video at the Huffington Post reminds me of why I am so happy to be a College Democrat.

Here's the jist: Every year College Democrats of America and the College Republicans host national conventions. The College Republican convention and its attendees were interviewed by Max Blumenthal about the war in Iraq. The CR's repeated the usual talking points about the war, implied that "people don't understand" why we're there, and then offered a laundry list of reasons why, even though they support the war and Bush's policies, they are not serving and won't be enlisting. During the film, one College Republican refers to the College Democrats of America as an Iraqi army and refers to the Republicans as U.S. Special Forces.

Next week in South Carolina, College Democrats will meet to host their national convention with more "walking" and less "talking." The College Dems are honored to have college students who are Iraqi veterans attending our convention. Speakers will address the disaster that is the war in Iraq and students and Democratic leaders will discuss the numerous problems and proposed solutions facing our country.

No wiggle room!

It's good to know the future leaders of the Republican party still see things so black and white.
