Cowtown Showdown

Frivolous lawsuits? Check. Judicial activism? Check. In Tarrant County, State Senator Kim Brimer is hard at work on the non-campaign trail once more.

Democratic candidate Wendy Davis spoke to supporters yesterday on the steps of the Tarrant County Courthouse in Fort Worth after filing a response to State Senator Kim Brimer's lawsuit contesting her eligibility to run against him. Her speech included this hard-hitting quote:

"He thinks this lawsuit will hide his 20 years of failed leadership," Davis said. "To the contrary, it has highlighted it."

The Blue's own George Nassar wrote about Senator Brimer's lawsuit last week, discussing it in light of a similar lawsuit filed by Speaker Tom Craddick against his Democratic opponent in Midland. Speaker Craddick lost that suit on terms highly unfavorable to the Brimer suit. Between the Midland ruling and the fact that State Senator Brimer has had five months to file a follow up lawsuit in the wake of the first unsuccessful challenge to Wendy Davis' candidacy, it doesn't seem that much has changed in State Senate District 10.

Nothing has changed, including that Kim Brimer still doesn't want to run against Wendy Davis.
