Dems Want Hillary To Stay In It

A new Washington Post - ABC poll of Democratic voters shows that a significant majority of them want Clinton to stay in the race if she wins Ohio or Texas. I rarely ever agree with Tucker Carlson, but yesterday he made the argument that it is very difficult to justify someone dropping out immediately after they win a state like Ohio. If she wins Ohio and the popular vote in Texas, I don't think there's anyway this ends tonight. If all she has to hang her hat on is winning the popular vote in Texas, the ground is more shaky but in that case everything gets very complicated very fast.

Mississippi to the rescue

If Clinton wins Ohio (as expected) and the Texas popular vote (as many expect), but doesn't make any significant gains in the delegate race (again, as expected), then she's in a bind. Staying in would be pointless, but dropping out after two big wins would be seen as a betrayal by her supporters, and would spawn a host of conspiracy theories about how she was forced out. In that scenario, look to Mississippi, where Obama is heavily favored, to provide an excuse for her to get out before the Pennsylvania Interlude. If she loses the Texas popular vote, look for her to get out tomorrow.

Clinton should stay in no matter what happens today because

We are just now getting warmed up in the Clinton Campaign. I'll admit, Clinton has had a very slow and disappointing start. However, if she even comes close to winning Texas & Ohio she has very much slowed Obama's momentum which is what the Superdelegates are watching (or so they say) and neither candidate has reached the # of pledged delegates necessary to win the nomination, so why on earth would she quit? For "Unity of the Party?" Not. Unifying the Party should not rest on Clinton's shoulders. Rules are Rules, let's play ball all the way to the very end. Clinton is in it to win it UNLESS she gets beat by 60-40 margins in Texas & Ohio and unless the polls are erroneous, that ain't happenin today. Furthermore, we won't even bring up the looming clouds over Obama right now and the many unanswered questions that are still on the table. My guess is that the "weekend bump" goes to Clinton today in all four States. My bet would be that some of us beer drinking Clinton supporters will turn into Champagne sipping Clinton supporters by midnight.

Hillary is a fine senator,

but Obama is far and away the best candidate for president at this moment in our history. Let's just hope the Clintons' efforts to discredit him don't turn this transcendent and transformational political figure into just another bickering pol. Thusfar, he has remained above the fray.

Clinton should stay in no matter what....

Hillary and Bill will do absolutely anything to win this election. Bill is already talking about the poor disenfranchised people in Florida and Michigan (just in case they lose this one big time). They have the money and power and connections to buy super delegates or whatever it takes. I am wondering what the black voters and thinking people will do when they steal this one??

Let's play out the rules to the end and see what happens

It's so funny to me when people start whining about the rules, division of the party, stealing the election, etc. Has anyone ever heard of quitting in the 3rd or 4th quarter of any game? No. Why do it in politics? We go to such labor to create all of these extensive rules and then when the going gets tough, people don't want to play out the game. I don't get it. This is an election, this is a race. Let's run it in its entirety and see who wins. This is fun. Some of us are having a great time. Continue the fight and plus, Obama may have a Rezko injury and may have to leave the playing field.
